چکیده

Background: Escherichia coli is known to inhabit the gastrointestinal tract of poultry and other animals. E. infection can cause major economic losses in production. The development resistance commonly used antimicrobials treatment such be a setback sector. Objective: This study was carried out determine antibiotic profile isolated from chickens Imo State, Nigeria. Materials Methods: Twelve farms were selected across 3 senatorial zones state using purposive random sampling. A total 120 cloacal samples collected sterile swabs. streaked onto MacConkey agar (MCA) incubated at 37o C overnight. Pink colonies on MCA eosin-methylene blue agar, for 24 hours C, confirmed by indole, methyl red, Voges-Proskauer, citrate (IMVIC) tests. Antimicrobial susceptibility test disc diffusion technique, inhibition zone diameter measured recorded as resistant or susceptible. Results: Twenty isolates identified coli. highly 5 antibiotics 10 used. Antibiotic patterns follows: amoxicillin (AMP) (95%), cephalothin (CEP) (90%), nalidixic acid (NA) (85%), trimethoprim (SXT) cefoperazone (PEF) (80%), ampicillin (70%) ofloxacin (OFX) (15%), ciprofloxacin (CIP) (10%), gentamicin (CN) streptomycin (S) (10%). Sixteen with AMC-SXT-AMP-CEP-NA-PEF being most prevalent. Conclusion: shows that multi-drug strains are present State.

Prevalence and antimicrobial resistance of Salmonella recovered from processed poultry.

This study was conducted to determine the prevalence and antimicrobial resistance of Salmonella isolates recovered from processed poultry. Four hundred eighty pre- and postchill whole broiler chicken carcasses were collected from a poultry processing plant between July 2004 and June 2005. Water samples also were collected at the entrance and exit of the chiller. After preenrichment, carcass and...

Antibiotic Resistance of Escherichia Coli Isolated From Poultry and Poultry Environment of Bangladesh

Problem statement: Increased emergence in microbial resistance to antibiotics is a growing problem in Bangladesh, a tropical country with a large agrarian population having limited medical facilities. Wide spread use of antimicrobials in poultry farming here is a concern of multi-drug microbial resistance development that can potentially be transmitted to human pathogens even from non-pathogeni...

Antimicrobial Drug–Resistant Escherichia coli from Humans and Poultry Products, Minnesota and Wisconsin, 2002–2004

The food supply, including poultry products, may transmit antimicrobial drug-resistant Escherichia coli to humans. To assess this hypothesis, 931 geographically and temporally matched E. coli isolates from human volunteers (hospital inpatients and healthy vegetarians) and commercial poultry products (conventionally raised or raised without antimicrobial drugs) were tested by PCR for phylogeneti...

Antimicrobial Resistance in Bacterial Poultry Pathogens: A Review

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a global health threat, and antimicrobial usage and AMR in animal production is one of its contributing sources. Poultry is one of the most widespread types of meat consumed worldwide. Poultry flocks are often raised under intensive conditions using large amounts of antimicrobials to prevent and to treat disease, as well as for growth promotion. Antimicrobial r...
